COMMUNITY ENGAGED PROJECTS
An archive of public and private art projects I have facilitated driven by community.
VIEWBANK PRIMARY SCHOOL MURAL PROJECT
2023
This mural project was made in collaboration with the students of Viewbank Primary School in late 2023. We prompted the students to each create a drawing inspired by their community garden. I collected hundreds of the drawings and used them to inform this artwork design which was painted with the students helping hands through workshops over the course of a week.
BANGS ST HOARDING PROJECT
BANGS ST, PRAHRAN, MELBOURNE
2022
Commissioned by Stonnington Council and Homes Victoria this project was a part of the redevelopment of housing commissions in Prahran, Melbourne. I was asked to create 10 community engaged designs to be printed on vinyl along approximately 300 meters of temporary hoarding. The project involved a community response element involving a survey collating information and ideas from local residents surrounding themes of 'home' in the trying times at the tail end of Melbourne lockdowns. From this information I created these 10 designs to be printed, informed by the local area in which I was at the time living and the extensive community response data.
EQUILIBRIUM
4DVERSE, ST KILDA
2021
Group exhibition co curated by Blaine psxy and I featuring local artists from Mebourne and interstate. Our aim for this event was to showcase talent from the infamous Victorian festival scene, bringing artists work normally seen in outdoor settings into a gallery space. Hosted by 4dverse the event was a great success in bringing together community from all walks of the city during a vibrant social night featuring live band and DJs.
TOUR, ASIA
2020
A painting tour taken place over 3 months in India and Nepal. During this time I fundraised money through my social media channels to buy and supply art materials to local orphanages and community centres in underdeveloped communities. I also engaged local orphanages in art and mural workshops which in the end became a successful and heartfelt project, one which instigated my passion for community projects and realisation for the power that lies in art and bringing hope and light to communities.
My work takes place in Naarm on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nations. I pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
